Training Program Overview
Welcome to Missouri State University Health Insurance and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Security Training. This online program is designed to provide you with:

bulletAn overview of the Health Insurance and Accountability Act and the enactment of the Security Rule for covered entities
bulletOutline your responsibilities as a member of a Missouri State Covered Entity
bulletProvide a 24/7 online resource for information on HIPAA and the responsibilities of our faculty, staff, and students who are members of covered entities.
bulletContact Information for your University and Unit Security Officers

Security and privacy are not new concepts. The federal HIPAA Security Rule requires additional training, new policies and procedures for the Security Rule portion of the law.  If you have not completed the HIPAA Privacy Training, please go back to the Health Information Privacy website to access and complete the Privacy training prior to the Security training.

Many of you  May be required to also attend Departmental level training to learn about specific processes and procedures that have been implemented in your Unit for safeguarding Electronic Protected Health Information (EPHI) and enforcing the HIPAA Security Rule.

The running time for this training program is about 25 minutes but I would recommend allowing 60 minutes to complete the program and to review the Missouri State HIPAA Security Rule Manual that is linked to this training for additional information.  A text only version of the script is also available.
